Kent Emmons sees opportunity in the marketplace—then builds it, brands it, and broadcasts it to billions.

From a farm town kid with a lemonade stand and mowing lawns in rural Southern Illinois to becoming an internationally connected entrepreneur, best-selling author, and media architect, Emmons has built a career spanning media empires, direct-response television, political strategy, and global philanthropy, generating billions in sales along the way. He’s the rare entrepreneur equally adept at maneuvering through Capitol Hill hallways or negotiating late-night TV deals.

On that journey, Emmons built a series of business successes—and, as he freely admits, “a couple of doozies” that misfired. Those misfires have given him some of the best ever war stories, and a string of wins that have built his empire. His core belief: Be prepared to take a risk or be content to work for someone else the rest of your life. This attitude has defined every chapter in a very colorful life journey.

Small-Town Roots, Big-Time Wins

Emmons launched his first business before most kids had an allowance. What started with a used push lawn mower and a couple of customers at age 10 quickly became a 25-yard-a-week operation that he maintained all the way through high school—never losing a single customer. But it was at 14 that the future media mogul got his first real taste of the entertainment business, promoting poolside dances at the local rec hall.

“I would hire a band for $50, charge people $2 to get in, go on the local radio station to promote it, and hope at least 25 people showed up. They always did.”

That instinct for promotion, audience, and timing would become the through-line of everything that followed.

Born to Lead

Leadership wasn’t something Emmons grew into—it’s something he was wired for from the start. His hometown-banker father always told him,

“If you’re going to be in the parade, lead the parade!”

Multi-term class president. Local student council president. President of the Illinois Association of Student Councils. Chairman of the State Student Council President’s National Leadership Committee. A member of the Illinois State Board of Education’s Student Advisory Committee under Governor Jim Thompson. Senior delegate at the International Student Leadership Program in Europe. Even as a kid, he was on a mission to lead the parade!

Raised as the son of a hometown bank president in an America First, pro-business family, Emmons absorbed the values of limited government and free enterprise early.

He was knocking on doors and campaigning for local leaders long before he could drive, and by high school, he was one of the most recognized young faces at the Illinois State Capitol—serving as the youngest legislative aide in the Illinois House of Representatives under State Representative Clyde Robbins.

During the Reagan era, Emmons served three terms as Chairman of the Wabash County Young Republicans and became a Republican precinct committeeman at just 18—channeling the same energy and conviction that would later fuel his business ventures on a national and international stage.

Emmons remains a staunch advocate for America First policies and a passionate defender of the principles and values that set the United States apart from every other country in the world. He believes every citizen has a duty to serve their country by getting involved—and he’s never stopped practicing what he preaches. Yet as he points out in one of his best-selling books, “The Commonsense 80%”, even in a deeply divided political landscape, we all have a lot more in common than we do in difference.

Building a Media Empire

As a young adult, Emmons added entertainment to the mix when he co-founded the Atlanta-based artist management and music publishing company Atlantis Entertainment alongside music industry legend Bill Lowery. The venture earned Emmons credit for signing top 10 talent and acquiring valuable music rights—establishing him as a serious player in the entertainment world.

Through his growing network of industry contacts, Emmons began acquiring radio stations and developing innovative radio networks built around highly profitable 24/7 niche formats. His timing always seemed to be right on the mark: the “Vacation Station”format he created, strategically deployed in top tourist markets across the country, and the first-ever 24/7 all-comedy radio format—launched as Comedy World, All Comedy Radio, and National Lampoon Comedy Radio—each proved that content-specific broadcasting could dominate niche audiences and deliver outsized returns. The comedy format continues to thrive today on radio stations around the country and on Sirius Satellite Radio.

The Accidental Infomercial Guy

Owning radio stations taught Emmons something most broadcasters overlooked: the enormous revenue potential in direct-response advertising. With a sharp eye for products and lead gen opportunities that would resonate with consumers, he began dedicating significant portions of his media ad inventory to direct-response spots—a strategy that translated seamlessly from radio to television.

That insight led to the founding of Kent Direct, Inc., an international direct-response television and digital firm that, together with its affiliates, has generated several billion dollars in sales. What started as an opportunistic pivot became one of the most successful direct-to-consumer media operations in the industry.

Disrupting the News— Twice

Never one to ignore a gap in the market, Emmons turned his attention to the news industry. Alongside a group of like-minded entrepreneurs and media veterans, he identified a massive blind spot: the major networks had all but abandoned the 18–54 demographic—the single most valuable audience in media.

The result is Crave News—a soon-to-launch 24/7 live, interactive, edgy digital news network built to hone in on how younger audiences actually consume information. But Emmons wasn’t content stopping there. Recognizing the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, he and his team developed News Channel 69—the first fully AI-powered news network, with the cheeky tagline “News Channel 69–turning mainstream media on its head.” In a media landscape dominated by legacy formats and partisan noise, both ventures represent Emmons’ relentless bet that innovation, audience instinct, and bold execution still win.

The Emmons Test

When Emmons and his team evaluate a business opportunity, they bring the rigor you’d expect—scrutinizing metrics, assessing long-term viability, and stress-testing growth projections. But at the end of the day, every opportunity has to pass the test that Emmons has become synonymous with. No matter how compelling the numbers, the end of the elevator pitch has to be able to conclude with these five words:

“…And have fun doing it.”

This principle of enjoying the process powers every venture, partnership, and risk—demonstrating that success and fulfillment come from aligning purpose, execution, and fun.

Impact Over Bureaucracy

Beyond business, Emmons has committed significant time and resources to philanthropic efforts focused on real-world impact—not bureaucracy. He has worked alongside organizations like Aerial Recovery and teams of retired military and special forces pros on domestic and international disaster relief missions, delivering aid where it’s needed most—often in the most difficult and dangerous conditions on the planet.

Emmons is also deeply invested in expanding educational and leadership opportunities for underprivileged youth right here in the United States and abroad, believing that access to mentorship and practical skills can change the trajectory of a life. Emmons was an early supporter of Charlie Kirk and Turning Point USA and remained closely connected right up to Charlie’s passing in 2025. He is a vocal advocate for cutting through government inefficiency to address two of America’s most urgent challenges: ending the cycle of wokeness in America that has weakened the fabric of our great country and ensuring that U.S. veterans receive the high-quality healthcare and support they have earned. His philanthropy aligns with his business approach—focused on accountable execution and measurable results, emphasizing impact over bureaucracy.

Through every chapter—from humble beginnings with a lawn mower and a couple of customers to leading billion-dollar media ventures, launching AI-powered news networks, and humanitarian missions—Kent Emmons exemplifies what true entrepreneurs do: spotting unseen opportunities, anticipating trends, and building for longevity while having fun doing it!
